About Us

Our History
We’ve been helping families in the St. Peter area for over 40 years.
Founded more than 40 years ago and initially located at Trinity Lutheran Church, the St. Peter Area Food Shelf is a nonprofit organization providing food to those in need. We are operated by staff and numerous volunteers, with food items generously donated by individuals, businesses, grocery stores, schools, churches, and civic organizations as well as purchased from our food bank Second Harvest Heartland. Through Second Harvest Heartland we are affiliated with The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and Retail Rescue from local retailers. We also secure food from Region Nine Food Rescue, South Central MN Food Recovery, and local growers.
We welcome new partnerships and outreach opportunities, including local school visits to educate children on the importance of helping our community.
Please contact us with any questions, comments, or ideas.
